Most Alura reviews you’ll find describe a product that no longer exists. Alura rebuilt its entire platform in 2026 (new app, new interface, workspaces, automations, an AI assistant) and quietly turned the free plan into something no competitor currently matches: product research with sales and revenue estimates at $0. We created a fresh account, ran our standard seed keywords through it, and wrote down what the screen actually showed, including the parts Alura would probably rather we hadn’t noticed.

The quick verdict
Alura: best free tier for product research, worst absolute numbers
The rebuilt Alura is the only tool in our test group that still shows sales and revenue estimates on a free plan, the exact metrics EverBee locks behind $29.99/mo. The modern interface and AI filters are genuinely pleasant. The catch: its keyword search volumes were the most inflated we measured (up to 24,000× above eRank’s figure for the same phrase), and the beta still has visible rough edges.

In a hurry? Use Alura free for product research and related-keyword discovery, trust its relative rankings, and ignore its absolute search-volume numbers. If honest keyword data matters more to you than revenue estimates, eRank won our six-tool comparison at a third of the price.
The 2026 rebuild: why old reviews are obsolete
The Alura most reviews describe was a research toolbox: keyword lookup, listing analyzer, profit calculator. The 2026 beta at platform.alura.io is a different product, closer to a seller operating system. Research (Keywords / Products / Shops) now sits alongside Tasks, an Inbox, customer follow-up emails, Pinterest marketing tools, Automations (labeled beta), and an AI analytics assistant, all organized into workspaces. It’s dark-mode only, fast, and clearly built by a team that has used modern SaaS tools.
Why this matters practically: pricing, limits, and features in pre-2026 reviews no longer line up with what you’ll see when you sign up. Everything below is from our own account on July 16, 2026.
Pricing: verified on alura.io, July 16, 2026

Keyword research: what our test actually showed
We ran the first five keywords of our standard 20-keyword rubric through Alura’s Keywords tool. The free plan’s cap is 5 searches per day per tool, and we hit it exactly. The limit is real. Here is every number the screen showed us:
| Keyword | Volume | 3-mo change | Competition | Difficulty | Score |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| personalized dog mom gift | 481.9k | −29.6% | 182.2k | 55 Moderate | 64 Fair |
| funny nurse t-shirt | 53k | −5.7% | 52.2k | 39 Easy | 51 Fair |
| boho wall art printable | 53.5k | +4.0% | 197.8k | 55 Moderate | 32 Poor |
| custom name necklace | 389.5k | +12.8% | 147.2k | 66 Hard | 71 Good |
| digital planner goodnotes | 66.6k | −17.3% | 117.5k | 54 Moderate | 41 Weak |
The genuinely good part is below the headline stats: the Similar Keywords table gave us 52 related keywords with every column unlocked (volume, change, competition, difficulty, score, and a trend sparkline) with pagination, filters, and a “Valid Etsy tag” toggle. For comparison: eRank paywalls its related-keyword ideas entirely, and EverBee’s free related list is long but padded with permutation clones. This is the best free related-keyword table of the tools we’ve tested.
The search-volume problem
Now the part no affiliate review will tell you. We asked three tools the same question on the same day: how many people search Etsy for “personalized dog mom gift” each month?
| Tool | Monthly searches | Competition |
|---|---|---|
| eRank | < 20 | 127,999 |
| EverBee | 4,200 | 152,000 |
| Alura | 481,900 | 182,200 |
Alura’s figure is the highest by far (24,000× eRank’s) while all three tools land in the same band on competition, because competition is a real countable number and “search volume” is each vendor’s private estimate. Alura’s volumes look Google-scale rather than Etsy-scale (its trend chart showed a December peak of 1.2M searches for this long-tail gift phrase), and nothing in the interface discloses the methodology. We also caught the same permutation cloning we saw in EverBee: “personalized dog gifts for mom” and “personalized gifts for dog moms” both report exactly 458,954 searches, a fingerprint of generated rather than measured data.
How to use it anyway: within Alura, the relative story matched the other tools (custom name necklace strongest, boho wall art saturated). Compare keywords against each other inside Alura and you’ll make decent decisions. Just never quote its absolute numbers, and never compare them with another tool’s.
Product research: the free revenue surprise

This is the reason to sign up. Search a product phrase and Alura returns 10,000+ listings with estimated sales and estimated revenue visible on the free plan. When we searched “dog mom sweatshirt,” an AI filter automatically applied “category: Clothing, item type: Finished product”, correctly guessing intent and saving the manual filter work, and the top results showed estimates like 24.3k sales / $973.7k revenue and 18.3k / $583.8k.
Context makes this remarkable: EverBee’s famous free revenue overlay is no longer free: those columns are padlocked until you pay $29.99/mo. Alura shows them at $0, five searches per day. We can’t independently verify the estimates (no tool discloses its model), so treat them the way we treat all modeled numbers: good for comparing listings against each other, not gospel.
Beta jank we hit
Honesty section (all observed first-hand in one session):
- Trend charts rendered on 1 of our 5 keyword queries. The other four showed empty axes.
- Product thumbnails displayed as black boxes in the research results list.
- Dark mode only: no light theme if that bothers you.
None of it blocked the actual data, and the app was otherwise the fastest and most modern of the tools we’ve tested. But it is visibly a beta, and you should expect occasional rough edges.

- 52 related keywords with full data columns, free
- Most modern interface in the category; AI filters genuinely save clicks
- Growth at $14.99/mo annual undercuts EverBee with Pinterest tools and follow-up emails bundled
- Free-plan limits are honest and clearly displayed (5/day per tool)

- Permutation-cloned related keywords with identical volumes
- Beta bugs: empty trend charts, black-box thumbnails
- No methodology disclosure anywhere in the UI
Alura vs the alternatives
Alura vs eRank: opposite philosophies. eRank told us the truth when a keyword had almost no searches (“<20”) and gives the deepest free per-keyword analysis; Alura gives the best free breadth (52 related keywords, revenue estimates) with the least believable absolute numbers. Budget pick for keyword honesty: eRank at $5.99/mo. Full breakdown in our six-tool comparison.
Alura vs EverBee: Alura’s free plan now does what EverBee’s used to be famous for. EverBee still has the smoothest browse-first workflow inside Etsy itself. If you’re paying anyway, it’s a fair choice. We ran both on the same keywords in EverBee vs eRank.
Use all three free tiers together. That’s the actual power move at $0: Alura for product/revenue research and related-keyword discovery, eRank for honest keyword depth, EverBee’s extension for browsing views and listing age on Etsy.
FAQ
Is Alura free?
Yes, the free plan includes 5 daily searches per tool, listing optimization for 10 listings, the profit calculator, and the Chrome extension. No card required. It’s the only major Etsy tool that still shows sales and revenue estimates without paying.
Is Alura’s data accurate?
Its competition counts track other tools closely. Its search volumes do not: across the five keywords we tested they ran from roughly 60× to 24,000× above eRank’s figure, with no methodology disclosure. Use Alura for relative comparisons, not absolute numbers.
Is Alura better than EverBee?
On free plans, yes for research: Alura shows revenue estimates EverBee locks behind $29.99/mo. On paid plans it’s closer: EverBee has the better in-Etsy workflow, Alura bundles more (Pinterest, follow-ups) for less on annual pricing.
What changed in the 2026 Alura update?
A complete platform rebuild: new app at platform.alura.io with workspaces, tasks, automations, customer follow-ups, Pinterest marketing, and an AI assistant. Reviews written before 2026 describe the old product.
